New Beginnings
Weaving in and out of a funk is not a pretty thing. And emotional roller coaster rides are not fun. Self-doubt, confusion, high anxiety, self-destruction, and losing oneself are all awful, awful things. Just sprinkle in a broken heart and you've got a really bad, Hollywood rendition of a Kafka novel - starring, yours truly.
I've recently realized that nobody is going to pull you out of the shit hole you've fallen into. Either, they've got shit holes of their own to worry about, or your stench is just too damn much. Or perhaps it's a combination of both, or neither. Loved ones can only provide support and care. Other than that, it's up to you (and only you) to take those necessary steps. The ones you've been avoiding because you think it's safer to remain in that shit hole of yours. It's non-threatening, it's familiar. It's become comfort.
So with the beginning of the Iranian New Year, which is today, I've decided to bring that fire back into my life. Iranians celebrate the first day of Spring, the Equinox, and mark it as the beginning of our calendar year.
Spring is a time of new beginnings, of cleansing, renewal and rebirth.
the timing couldn't be more appropriate...
so here's to new beginnings for me, and perhaps, for some of you.
much love,
PQ
