New Beginnings

Weaving in and out of a funk is not a pretty thing. And emotional roller coaster rides are not fun. Self-doubt, confusion, high anxiety, self-destruction, and losing oneself are all awful, awful things. Just sprinkle in a broken heart and you've got a really bad, Hollywood rendition of a Kafka novel - starring, yours truly.

I've recently realized that nobody is going to pull you out of the shit hole you've fallen into. Either, they've got shit holes of their own to worry about, or your stench is just too damn much. Or perhaps it's a combination of both, or neither. Loved ones can only provide support and care. Other than that, it's up to you (and only you) to take those necessary steps. The ones you've been avoiding because you think it's safer to remain in that shit hole of yours. It's non-threatening, it's familiar. It's become comfort.

So with the beginning of the Iranian New Year, which is today, I've decided to bring that fire back into my life. Iranians celebrate the first day of Spring, the Equinox, and mark it as the beginning of our calendar year.

Spring is a time of new beginnings, of cleansing, renewal and rebirth.

the timing couldn't be more appropriate...

so here's to new beginnings for me, and perhaps, for some of you.

much love,
PQ

pq--woman, you've said it in these words what I tried in my last entry. Hugs to you, and thank you tremendously; it is invaluable when these raw emotions and realities are shared...to hear we're not alone. It is true, pulling out of the shit hole is a sole individual process. And sharing it--makes it a bit less lonely.

I am inspiring to write a bit deeper into what I'm referring to. But really, you've nailed it.

thanks fab,

we said it in different ways but when i ready your piece, i knew we were on the same wavelength.
hugs right back to you. it's both difficult and yet somehow "easy" (freeing?) to share stuff through blog posts....even though there are people who know my "real" identity (which makes me feel slightly uncomfortable at times)

but anyway, it's good to share, like you said, because we don't feel so alone. couldn't agree more with that.

I look forward to reading your words ms. fiercely fabalicious!

Girl.. I think the Iranians must have it right because I'm feeling the same way about renewal and pulling myself out of the funk.. I'm guessing you might have read the response I gave to Fabby's post too.. I'm going through this whole cleansing thing myself: mentally, emotionally, and soon, physically... I'm gonna make sure I stay updated on our progress here.. Love to see you come back!

Dear Pomegranate Queen,

I am contacting you regarding a blog survey I am conducting. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Mass Communication at Penn State and my dissertation project consists of a survey that looks at bloggers’ perceived motivations for and effects of their blogging.

I am sending the survey to a number of bloggers, and I would like to invite you to participate in it as well. Participation should take approximately 15 minutes of your time. I would appreciate it tremendously if you would be willing to take the survey. If you decide to do so, please follow the link below:

http://www.personal.psu.edu/cds205/blog/signin.htm

I would be very happy to share the findings of my study with you once it is completed!

If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Thank you in advance,

Carmen

PQ,
One of the reasons that I like your blog is because you don't write much but, when you do, you are sincere.
I also enjoy your perspective.

Way to take initiative, and Spring is definitely the time to do it... I just would like to recommend to all you ladies (and men as well) that you check out www.flyingconfessions.com. It's the site for a new documentary coming out July in NYC. It's a documentary that seeks to define and understand what it means to be a modern free woman through discussion with other women all over the world (in 17 different countries!). It looks great, just wanted to let you all know. To new beginnings!
