"Sleeping With the Enemy"

This is supposed to be tongue and cheek for people who are dating or having sex with Muslims.
Sexualized racism is supposed to be funny?
Damn.
This is beyond offensive.

What is wrong with people.

I know right... nobody will visit it, I'm sure. I'm using it as an excuse to type to myself instead of talking to myself all day. Call me crazy ;)

Thanks! I did see the guys' version - beyond brutal. I was going through the "designs" and just laughing them off - then when I saw the guys' shirts I realized the designer not only wants to deprive women of dignity, but also strip men of manhood. Very sad indeed.

Thanks for linking me - all is well on my end - I hear you're doing big things :) Congrats and good luck!

i don't know about "stripping men of manhood" - I think that's where the problem is rooted...the racist misogyny, the racist patriarchy that our society's drenched in. It's all part of that discourse.

but on the real, this whole thing is pure sexualized racism. it's definitely vomitizing (i just made up a word!)

doh!

Vomitizing - nice!
Yeah I can definitely feel where you're coming from, it's all pretty tasteless. I was talking about stripping men of manhood for the I love men shirt - not the sleeping with the enemy shirt. I was trying to ignore that one. Obviously being who I am I have to live down similar sexual racism when I date outside of my race. Everything from "how big is his..." to "oh i bet people don't mess with you when you walk down the street..." comes flying out of peoples' mouths w/out malicious intentions (most of the time). I'm kind of used to that bs and not so jarred by it when I come across it somewhere outside of my own real life, I guess. Sad that I'm that desensitized. But, then again, I live in the same country that is apparently ok with lacking politicians suggesting a black candidate could be assassinated, among other things, in order to pave their way into the white house. *sigh* 'tis the world in which we live. make lemonade :)

About the t-shirt: I get so sick of these messages. They just keep the cycles of hate and misunderstanding going.

If you re-read you might see that I was simply trying to share MY perspective that this is, while ignorant and tasteless, just a t-shirt. I threw in a reason why I feel that way so that PQ would know I wasn't belittling her frustration. At any rate my reply/opinion is not for your entertainment, so please don't attempt to moderate it. No offense, really. Peace.

oh anthony! you misunderstood Glued Blue Glass!! she was talking about the t-shirts in general...by "messages" she didn't mean your comments but what's written on the t-shirts!!

welcome to the world of blogging where misunderstandings happen quite frequently. :)

and Glued Blue Glass, girl, I really know what you mean. I had to think hard about posting it, just to not perpetuate the bullshit (even if critical of it). But I really couldn't help it.

Are you back now??
I'll check you on your blog!

Haha! thanks for catching that PQ! - I apologize for the misunderstanding, Glass. On my blackberry email your comment was led in by "This was supposed to be..." Which, after reading pq's post correcting me, I see is her first line from the original post!!

MY BAD ;)

I thought to myself "Really? She's tryna shut me up mid discussion w/someone else?!?"

*shuffles to the corner of the room and stares @ the wall while the rest of the class continues on* :)

Anthony,
No, I wasn't saying anything about you. I'll have to check out what the male T-shirt says. I liked the debate though. It also makes me be careful about how I word things. I for one don't want to add to the misunderstandings!

Well in a sea of my misunderstanding you are very understanding :)

It was completely my fault. :)
