Discursive Desire
Has anyone read Catherine Belsey's work on the postmodern condition and love? The article I'm thinking of is, Postmodern Love: Questioning the Metaphysics of Desire.
According to Belsey, "the post-modern condition brings with it an incredulity toward true love."
must know what she has to say. time to hit the library.

HI,
SO I JUST READ THE BEGINNING OF THE ARTICLE AND WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THE IDEA THAT LOVE COMES TO REPRESENT CERTIANTY. i WOULD ARGUE THAT IN A COMMODIFIED WORD, WHERE THE EMPTINESS OF THE MATERIALNESS OF OUR WORLDS SENDS ONE INTO EXSETENSIAL CRISIS, THAT CERTIANTY IS EVEN MORE PRESIOUS THAN LOVE. AND IT IS THE QUEST FOR SOMETHING STABLE AND CERTIAN THAT MAKES US CLING SO TO THE IDEA OF LOVE.
JUST A THOUGHT. LOVE YOUR BLOG
